SUSTAINABILITY
Sustainability is central to FILIPPA ROSE®. We prioritize eco-friendly practices while ensuring product quality. The apparel sector faces issues like overproduction, with 21% of textiles unsold and unclear inventory fates. Our on-demand suppliers produce items only after orders, reducing waste. Our printing partner uses low-wastewater, energy-efficient technology to lower carbon emissions.
Eco-friendly items contain at least 70% organic or recycled materials (or a blend). Certifications include GOTS/OCS for organics, GRS/RCS for recycled content, OEKO-TEX® for safety, PETA-Approved Vegan for cruelty-free standards, Ecocert COSMOS for beauty, and Fair Wear Foundation for ethical labor.
We use direct-to-garment (DTG) printing for cotton-rich items like t-shirts, hoodies, and totes, applying ink directly to fabric. Kornit printers produce nearly zero wastewater and use less energy than traditional models, reducing emissions. Inks are Oeko-Tex™ certified, vegan, water-based, and chemical-free. Residual ink follows supplier disposal protocols.
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the leading international certification for textiles made from organic fibers. It sets comprehensive criteria for environmental responsibility, social justice, and product quality throughout the supply chain, from raw material sourcing to final distribution.
GOTS applies to any textile product containing at least 70% certified organic fibers by weight, excluding minor components like trims (under 5%). This includes yarns, fabrics, apparel, home textiles, and personal care items across all processing stages, such as spinning, dyeing, and finishing.
Apparel ships in post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic mailers with ≥70% recycled content for outer and inner bags. Made from repurposed plastics like bottles, they match virgin plastic protection with lower impact. Variations may occur by facility.
In compliance with Canada's Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act, FILIPPAROSE.shop, through our partner Printful, maintains a robust framework to eradicate these practices. Key elements include:
-
Policies: A zero-tolerance policy against forced, child, or compulsory labour, aligned with international standards like ILO conventions and Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
-
Due Diligence and Risk Management: Annual risk assessments of suppliers, focusing on high-risk regions and operations. We integrate human rights into procurement processes and require vendor acknowledgments of our 2023 Vendor Compliance Manual, which emphasizes shared human rights values.
-
Remediation and Grievance Mechanisms: Immediate investigation and corrective actions for violations, including victim support and supplier termination if necessary. Accessible reporting channels for workers and stakeholders.
-
Training and Awareness: Ongoing employee and supplier training on human rights risks and prevention.
-
Effectiveness Assessment: Regular audits, performance metrics, and public reporting to evaluate and improve our approach, enhancing transparency and industry-wide practices.
This commitment fosters ethical supply chains, protecting workers and aligning with our sustainability goals.
